MKVTOOLNIX TUTORIAL

Welcome to the mkvtoolnix tutorial. After going through this, everyone should be able to remux their own copies of videos without us having to go through the trouble of releasing patches and the problems involved with it. This tutorial will also work for muxing your own raw and script together, instead of having to download our release. By doing this though, timing may be off, so please do not come asking us for help with that, as all raws are different.

1. Download mkvtoolnix for your OS from here: http://www.bunkus.org/videotools/mkvtoolnix/

2. Get a copy of the fixed script(*.ass files) that you want to mux, either by downloading it from our Script Repository or your own fixed copy, and a copy of the video you want to fix(*.mkv files). This tutorial will apply to any *.mkv video and script of course, not just releases from BSS.

3. Run mkvmerge GUI. This window, or something similar, should pop up:

4. Drag the video you want to remux onto mkvmerge. It should now look like this:

Now drag the script onto mkvmerge. It should now look like this:

5. Uncheck the "S_TEXT/ASS" entry and make sure the "SSA/ASS" entry, the script you just imported, is checked.

6. Select the SSA/ASS entry and under General track options below, select "eng(English)" for "Language" and "yes" for "Default track flag". Optionally, you may type in a track name for it. It should now look like this:

7. At the bottom you'll find "Output filename". This will be the filename after you remux it, so you'll want to change this by adding "v2" or "v3" to it. After doing this, press "Start muxing" and you'll see a window pop up showing you the progress. If it successfully muxes, then your window will look like this:

If it fails, then retry and carefully follow the steps again.

8. Once you complete muxing, you'll find that there are two copies of the video now, the original and the fixed copy. Open up the fixed copy to make sure that you can see the subs and that the mistakes are fixed. If everything is fine, then you may delete the original video.

9. This step is optional, but having muxed in a new script, your hash will now by different. You can use your favourite CRC32 hash generator and then rename your video with the proper hash.
